First Ever 500 miles Charity Mountain Biking Challenge Completed!

Over £1000 raised for charity!

On the 7th of August 2009, four intrepid mountain biking enthusiasts, hailing from Scotland, England and Israel, began the mountain biking adventure of a lifetime, covering 500 miles in just 9 days, from the south western corner of Scotland to the capital of the Highlands, Inverness.

With their Camelbaks packed with energy drinks, Haribo and Snickers, the trailblazing foursome set off on a glorious day from Portpatrick in bonny Galloway, with 500 miles of forestry road, sheep track, walking path, purpose-built singletrack and ancient drove road stretching out in front of them.

The route took in some of the most remote hills and glens, historical buildings, iconic landscapes and beautiful cities in the country, as well as some of the most incredible singletrack to be found anywhere. Jim Haworth from Lancashire was one of the four pioneers to have completed the 500 miles charity challenge. "The route couldn't have been better; a great variety of terrain and technical trails meant that every day felt like a whole new experience".

The epic adventure has forged lasting friendships between the participants, and provided unforgettable memories for all involved. We've got high hopes for the event becomming at least an annual trip, and hope that we'll find another group of intrepid individuals to take part in the longest continuous mountain biking adventure in Scotland. Most importantly we're hoping to increase the total amount of money being donated to the 500 miles charity!

If you're interested in taking part in the 500 miles charity challenge in 2010, or know someone who may be, please contact us with the dates you have in mind for your trip. If you can gather together a group of four or more brave souls, we can run the challenge at any time of year, just let us know which dates suit you and we'll do our best to accommodate you and your team.
